Senator Dorgan's “Clean Coal and CCS Technology Development Pathways” Initiative
Former Senator Byron Dorgan launched the “Clean Coal and CCS Technology Development Pathways” initiative in 2009 in effort to produce information needed for policymakers to make informed decisions about the role of coal in our nation’s energy mix and to recognize its importance in world concerned about climate change. Industry, academia and the environmental community were brought together to narrow the technical and other gaps in information on the needs for clean coal and carbon capture and sequestration technology.
The links below provide an overview of the results of their work.
Over a period of 16 months, the groups assembled by Senator Dorgan met and developed potential strategies, pathways, and resource requirements targeted at overcoming hurdles to development of the clean coal industry.
