On April 15, 2013 CURC submitted comments to House Ways and Means Energy Tax Reform Working Group Co-Chairs, Reps. Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Mike Thompson (D-CA). CURC’s letter (enclosed) recommended that requirements for the 45Q carbon sequestration tax credit need to be amended in order for it to fully achieve the goal of encouraging industrial facilities to install and operate carbon dioxide (CO2) capture equipment. | |
On April 9, 2013 CURC sent a letter of thanks to Senators Landrieu (D-LA) , Manchin (D-WV), Heitkamp (D-ND), and Donnelly (D-IN). Those senators sent a letter (enclosed) to President Obama on March 14, 2013, urging that he consider an alternative approach to the regulation of greenhouse gases from new fossil-fuel fired power generation facilities. CURC submitted comments to the Environmental Protection Agency in June, 2012 setting forth a set of concerns and proposed solutions that are similar to those described in the senators’ letter. |
